Card Contest Winners 2020 - RubberHedgehog Rubber Stamps

Card Contest Winners 2020

Grand Prize Winner

Artist: Roxanne Marker
Title: Out of This World

Stamps used: Alien hitchhiker, Alien with mask, Luggage, Word stamp.

Our crew thought Ms. Marker’s card was absolutely “Out of this world.”  It was whimsical, humorous, and polished in its execution.  The Iris space ship “hatch” opened smoothly and the reveal was worthy of the care put into making such a lovely card.

Artist's instruction:

Stamped Aliens, suitcase, moon, and word stamp. This is a magic Iris card. The mechanism is a die by Lawn Fawn. It's a fun interactive card. I used the stars embossing folder by Sizzix. Stamped the alien on the glow in the dark paper (they were hard to fussy cut). Stamp and cut out saying and suitcase and moon. Papers are Stampin up (not the glow in the dark, I made that). Pull down the tab with arrow and the eye will open up. Star punch and Stampin Up jewels. Stars, both Aliens, and saying glows in the dark.

 3 First Place Winners:
(in no particular order)

Artist: Sherry Morley
Title: Let The Good Times Roll

Stamps used:

Toilet Paper, Cat Mummy, Tee Peed Mummy, Tree with Toilet paper, Egyptian Mummy, Dachshund Mummy.

Ms. Morley’s card was beautifully done. We loved the consistent color theme throughout which was also very suitable for a Halloween card. We also thought she made great use of the space on the front of the card. It was brilliantly executed and the subject matter made us smile.  Great work!

Artist's instruction:

Products used: Whimsy Slimeline Waves Die, Distress Oxide inks, Copic Markers

Artist: Gina McCreary
Title: Happy Birthday to The Nicest Nut!

Stamps used:

Wary Peanut, Crazy Peanut, Party Peanut, Laughing Peanut, Angry Peanut.

Our crew loved Ms. Mcreary’s creative use of our peanut stamp collection – it was fun with a festive attitude that we found infectious. During these challenging times, we also thought it was very smart to have the peanuts socially distance during their party.  You can’t be too careful!  We are huge fans of these “nicest nuts!”

Artist's instruction:

Supplies: Memento ink, Distress Oxide ink, Copic markers mask paper, electronic die cuts (frame and flower pot)

Artist: Ann-Janette Vander Ende
Title: Caught a Bug

Stamps used:

Cute Firefly, Heard you caught a bug.

Our crew was immediately smitten with the art work of Ms. Vander Ende.  Her whimsical entry was fun and brightened our mood considerably – which seemed perfect for a get well card. We loved it!

Artist's instruction:

Jar embossed on white card stock. Used yellow, orange, and black ink to create a glow effect around the jar and bug. Colored lighting bug, and added glitter and sequins.

 2020 Honorable Mentions

Several cards were selected to appear in our honorable mentions gallery located here. You can also view all of this year's entries by clicking here.

2020 has been a challenging year and we have all at one time or another just wanted to find an escape hatch and leave all of this year’s uncertainty and anxiety behind.  And, though the hatch on Ms. Marker’s space ship is fantasy, our escape into this year’s card contest was not.  We were thrilled for the opportunity to lose ourselves in your art. And, while the contest was very tough to judge this year because all of the entries gave us so much joy, we enjoyed the experience very much.  Thank you to everyone who entered!  We hope you will all return next year.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our 2020 Greeting Card Contest - receiving all your cards was great fun!

As always, our choice was very difficult. There were many creative, clever, and polished entries and only four prizes available for this round.

We also chose 5 entries for honorable mention - though we would have liked to have chosen many more for recognition.

All card entries have been resized to fit this page; a few have also been cropped or digitally enhanced in other ways - to better suit this page and our purposes. Our judges made their choice based on the original entries as submitted; many factors were considered.

All decisions are final. Prize packages (store credits) will be sent to Grand Prize and First Prize winners by email. Honorable mention card crafters will receive a small gift in the mail from our crew for their amazing contributions to this year's contest. If you are a winner and have not been contacted by October 30th, 2020, please email us using our contact form.
