Card Contest Winners 2014 - RubberHedgehog Rubber Stamps

Card Contest Winners 2014

Grand Prize Winner

Artist: Shellie Nelson
Title: God Bless America

Stamps used: Patriotic Lab, USA, Patriotic Paw Print, Happy 4th of July.

Supplies: Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Copic Makers, SU inks, ribbon, stars, and brads

Our team loved the juxtaposition of distressed papers with the bright color scheme of this entry. The coloring was vibrant, crisp, and neat. We loved the creative use of embellishments and the the overall effect. Great job, Shellie!

Artist's Instructions:

I combined 3 different stamps in a collage using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. I used Copic makers for coloring and SU inks for distressed look. I raised images with dimensionals and cut a back piece of paper 1/8" wider to add the rope (glued with crystal effects). I used side paper by paper studio, diistressed and crumpled. I added ribbon, stars, and brads. Card size 3 ¾" x 8 ½".

 5 First Place Winners:
(in no particular order)

Artist: Nicole Fischer
Title: Pirate Manatee

Stamp used: Pirate Manatee.

Some of the effect was lost in scanning - but the manatee and his accoutrement are layered and very dimensional. And, we loved the beads used as jewels. Great Job, Nicole!

Artist: Sophia Vega
Title: Pirate Adventure

Stamp used: Jolly Roger.

We loved the nautical theme along with the distressed flag background - cut to subtly mimic the edges of the Jolly Roger Stamp. The card seems simple, but it has many subtle touches that made it memorable to our crew. Very nice work, Sophia.

Artist: Julie Strache
Title: Giraffes

Stamp used: Giraffe Pair.

Our crew loved the sophisticated pallette used to bring these giraffes to life. The effect was striking. Thank you, Julie!

Artist: Cathy Dahl
Title: Sty Sweet Sty

Stamps used: Television, Pig in Recliner.

This card was an early favorite with our crew due to it's creative flair - the homey details were very cleverly executed. I particularly loved the framed wall hanging, "sty sweet sty" and the wobble used to make the pig "wiggle in his chair".

Artist: Elise Gerke
Title: Fortune Teller Guinea Pig

Stamp used: Guinea Pig with Crystal Ball.

Our scanner couldn't do it justice, but the jeweled turban (embellishment) and the shiny metallic layering papers (one with glitter and one with a patterned mirror effect), along with all of the details Elise added to the foreground, really brought this mystically themed card to life. Great Job, Elise!

 2014 Honorable Mentions

Several cards were selected to appear in our honorable mentions gallery located here. You can also view all of this year's entries by clicking here.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our 2014 Greeting Card Contest - receiving all your cards was great fun!

As always, our choice was very difficult. There were many creative, clever, and polished entries and only four prizes available for this round.

We also chose 16 entries for honorable mention - though we would have liked to have chosen many more for recognition.

All card entries have been resized to fit this page; a few have also been cropped or digitally enhanced in other ways - to better suit this page and our purposes. Our judges made their choice based on the original entries as submitted; many factors were considered.

All decisions are final. Prize packages (store credits) will be sent to Grand Prize and First Prize winners by email. Honorable mention card crafters will receive a small gift in the mail from our crew for their amazing contributions to this year's contest. If you are a winner and have not been contacted by August 2014, please email us using our contact form.
